RIBA Awards FAQs
I can't log into my account?
UK Awards: The RIBA Awards entry system can be accessed by logging into your RIBA Account, or by creating an account directly on the Awards platform.
If you have forgotten your RIBA Account password or need to change it, click the ‘forgotten password’ link.
Please note, your RIBA Account is an account held by an individual, not that of the Chartered Practice.
International Awards: The RIBA Awards entry system can be accessed by logging into your RIBA Account, or by creating an account directly on the Awards platform. Create a RIBA guest account.
Can I enter more than one project using the same account?
Entrants can submit multiple projects using the same user account. A full list of project entries can be viewed on the ‘My Projects’ page.
Do I need to be a RIBA Member to enter?
UK Awards: Yes. All projects must be completed and entered by an individual RIBA Chartered Member or Honorary Fellow. The user account can be created by any individual within the practice, but the project entry must be assigned to an individual RIBA membership number. RIBA Chartered Practice numbers will not be accepted.
International Awards: These are open to any qualified architect. You will need to provide evidence of the project director’s membership of an organisation such as the RIBA, or registration with an architecture registration board. If you are not a member of any such organisation, we will need details of your qualification certificate and the academic institute you graduated from.
Does our project need to be complete to enter the RIBA Awards?
Yes. All RIBA Awards are given to completed projects because to win a RIBA Award the project must be visited by at least one jury. We don’t accept entries of incomplete or conceptual projects due to this rigorous process.
As of 2022, it is mandatory for projects to have been completed and occupied for at least one year to be eligible to enter.
This means that for the 2025 Awards, the project must have been completed and occupied by December 2023 (one year before entries to the 2025 Awards close).
My project was unsuccessful in 2024, can it be re-entered for consideration in 2025?
UK Awards: If your project has not previously won a RIBA Award, it can be re-entered for 2025 and will be considered by a different judging panel. This is providing it still meets the eligibility criteria as outlined in our Entry Guidelines.
My project is located in Scotland - can I still enter the RIBA Awards?
Projects in Scotland must enter the RIAS Awards to first be considered by RIAS judges, which includes a RIBA representative.
Where do I find the Sustainability form?
A downloadable version of the sustainability questions can be accessed below and on the entry system. This can then be sent to your sustainability expert to fill in, but all information must then be entered on the entry system in order to complete your submission.

International Awards: RIBA International Awards Sustainability Guide (DOCX, 1.1 MB)
Will I be required to provide detailed sustainability data?
For the UK Awards and International Awards, there are elements of the sustainability form which are mandatory for all projects, but with some optional questions that allow you to provide further detail. We ask that all projects try to provide as detailed information as possible.
I can't provide quantifiable sustainability data - can I still enter?
If it’s not possible for your project to produce quantifiable data either because of its size, or because it does not provide climatic enclosure, you must note this and explain the reasons in the sustainability form.
How will my information be used?
The information provided as part of the submission will be used for RIBA Awards purposes only (unless stated otherwise). Entrants have the opportunity to flag sensitive information as confidential. This will ensure it is not then published for any press or PR purposes.
How do I pay for my entry?
Payment can only be made once all mandatory fields have been completed. All entrants must pay the entry fee by credit or debit card and in GBP sterling. We cannot issue invoices. A VAT receipt is available to download upon payment.
Can I pay for multiple project entries at the same time?
Yes, if your practice wishes to enter multiple projects you may complete each submission and pay for them together. Please be aware that projects will only be submitted to us once the payment is complete.
Can I enter from outside the UK?
UK Awards: Yes, if you are a RIBA Chartered Member or RIBA International Fellow, you can enter a project located in the UK. Please note, availability for in-person judging visits is a requirement of our UK Awards.
International Awards: Entries to the RIBA International Awards are for projects located outside of the UK.
I’m still not sure if my project is eligible, who can I ask?
Please contact the awards team at awards@riba.org and we will be happy to provide guidance.
