The Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice in Architecture

The RIBA Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice in Architecture (Part 3) is validated and prescribed by the RIBA and ARB respectively.

Those who have ARB Part 1 and Part 2 recognition and are successful in the Part 3 examination, are eligible for registration under the Architects Registration Act 1997, and for RIBA Chartered Membership.

The RIBA Part 3 course is delivered in the following locations: UK (Chester), UK (London), Hong Kong and UAE.

Eligibility Criteria

RIBA Part 3 is aimed at those wishing to achieve status as a fully qualified architect in the UK.

For enrolment onto the RIBA Part 3 course, you should normally have one of the following:

  • Completed RIBA Parts 1 and 2, or equivalent
  • Been awarded a qualification in architecture which is covered by the Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/ EC) *listed on 30th December 2020
  • Hold international qualifications in architecture to master’s level (5+ years), and are eligible for the ARB Prescribed Examination at Part 1 and Part 2

You must also be working towards two years practical training experience, under the direct supervision of a professional working in the construction industry, which should include at least one year working in the EEA, Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man, under the direct supervision of an architect.
