RIBA International

Breeze of Hope

RIBA International

RIBA International is responsible for all member engagement and partnership activity outside of the UK. We support RIBA members in the international regions and chapters, collaborate with international institutes and architectural organisations, and provide guidance on working overseas.

Our purpose

Through our work we champion better buildings and places, stronger communities and a sustainable environment. We provide the training, support and recognition that put our members internationally at the top of their profession.

Our three main areas are:

International member engagement

We deliver programmes and initiatives to support over 8,000 international members, promote excellence in architecture and grow the global RIBA architecture community.

The RIBA International team works closely with the RIBA International Chapters network of volunteer member groups, to deliver a range of activities in their area, in line with the wider RIBA Strategy. Visit RIBA International Chapters page for more information on RIBA Chapter groups.

We support our student members in over 52 validated courses across the world at RIBA International Validated schools through the International Architecture Schools Engagement programme which including talks, networking events, workshops and design competitions.

International relations

Our work involves collaborating with international institutes of architects and international architectural organisations. We are members of the Commonwealth Association of Architects, International Union of Architects and the Architects Council of Europe (ACE). Our work with these organisations involves developing collaborative projects, supporting global networking, promoting design excellence in architecture and creating greater mobility within the profession.

International trade

Partner organisations we collaborate internationally with include the Department of International Trade (DIT)British Expertise International and China-Britain Business Council (CBBC). We work with these organisations to arrange activities such as trade visits, networking receptions and one-to-one business matchmaking appointments.

Support for members based or wanting to work overseas

We provide support for members based or wanting to work overseas, with four global regions: Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia and Australasia.

Our two regional offices are based in the Gulf and China. There are also six established International Chapters serving local communities of architects across the world and hosting regular events and activities.
