On Wednesday 22 November, RIBA members, students and non-members joined us at RIBA Award-winning New Art Exchange (NAE) in Nottingham, for a hugely insightful and thought-provoking presentation from Senior Partner at Hawkins\Brown Architects, Harbinder Singh Birdi: 'How can architecture influence the development of sustainable creative communities?'

The event aimed to bring together architectural professionals for an evening of conversation, networking and debate, as well as promoting the benefits of RIBA membership, the work of the RIBA regional office and opportunities to engage with the local Nottingham and Derby branch.

Over 50 people attended and were welcomed with a mouth-watering South Indian buffet and live music in advance of the main presentations. Speakers included Nottingham and Derby Society of Architects President, Stuart Buckenham, Ben Wildsmith, Senior Territory Manager, Ibstock and recently-elected RIBA Vice President Membership, Dr Valeria Passetti.

After his presentation, Harbinder Birdi (NAE Project Architect) was joined on the stage by NAE CEO, Skinder Hundal for a Q&A session.

The sell-out event, sponsored by Ibstock and supported by RIBA Local Initiative Funding, has received positive feedback from those present, resulting in new membership enquiries.
