Voting in this year's Presidential and Council elections is open. It's now over to RIBA Members, YOU choose the new RIBA Council Members and the next RIBA President of the Institute.
Your vote is important. Find out why Council Members across the country are urging you to vote for your representation.
Ben Derbyshire, RIBA President:
"The RIBA President represents you, pushing for changes that will enable architects to thrive, at the highest tables of power with Government and internationally. Does it really matter who the RIBA President is? Absolutely! - who represents you is vital.
With over 43,000 members, around 250 staff and over £20m turnover there can surely be no other organisation with a capacity that comes close to effecting change to improve the fortunes of our profession. The decisions taken by your elected Council of representatives directly affect you – so please vote now!"
Alan Vallance, RIBA Chief Executive:
"The Institute wouldn’t exist without its members. If you want the RIBA to continue to succeed, I encourage you to engage and support it to do so. By working together, effectively, no other organisation can come close to our capacity to deliver change. I encourage all members to get involved in the work of their institute – an important step is to vote TODAY."
Jane Duncan, RIBA Immediate Past President:
"The discussions, debates and activity that happen within RIBA Council, and my role as President - from helping to lobby Government and representing the RIBA internationally - are vital for the profession. It matters who you vote for!"
Simone de Gale, National Member:
"In my manifesto, I requested RIBA members vote for me so that I could help represent the next generation of Architects. I am able to do exactly that now in my role as Council Member and share values which are intrinsic to innovate the Institute".
Tim Bailey, Council Member for North East:
"Being on Council gets you to the front of the conversation about the what is happening in and to the profession. You find a voice and you are contributing where it matters for architects everywhere".
Roger Wu, Council Member Asia & Australasia:
"As a new member of the RIBA Council since September, it has been a steep learning and an eye-opening experience over the past six months. I have been impressed by the work that has been carried out at the Institute behind the scenes and I feel very privileged to be involved with debating and making informed decisions with my fellow Council members."
Caroline Buckingham, National Council Member and Vice President Practice & Profession:
"It would be easy to sit on the side lines and feel disengaged with the RIBA; however getting a seat on Council means you have the opportunity to engage on key matters and importantly hear the views of others".
Have you cast your vote yet? If not, vote now and ensure your voice is heard.
