NYSA Industry Updates - AlterNATIVE Construction

Join NYSA to hear Sally Walker from Native Chartered Architects discuss the practices use of AlterNATIVE Construction methods.

Join us to hear from Native Architects on their use of bio-based construction materials in all of their projects from heritage and listed buildings to new-build commercial and residential projects.

Sustainable construction relies both on storing the embodied carbon in construction materials and existing fabric together with reducing the carbon in the energy used in the operation of buildings.

Buildings constructed with natural, renewable, and sustainable materials such as hemp, wood, and straw not only have low embodied carbon but in addition the avoidance of plastics, toxic chemicals, and materials manufactured using fossil fuels, produces healthy buildings with good levels of indoor air quality and low energy use.

About the speaker

This presentation will be delivered by Sally Walker, founder of Native Architects, who is guided by her strong values on environmental sustainability and the practice ethos of designing development with low environmental impact which enhances the environmental quality of spaces for users. Her ambition is to reduce the impact of construction on the environment through the design of low - environmental impact, sustainable, and responsible architecture.

As well as designing new buildings the practice has a track record of adapting and re-using existing traditional and heritage buildings in rural and urban landscapes as part of rural diversification and urban regeneration schemes.

Each ticket includes a tea/coffee and cake.
