Join RIBA Learning at the British Library’s Family Festival: Story Explorers, using 3D paper modelling and collage techniques to design and make your very piece of own garden architecture.
In this creative drop-in workshop, we will become architects of our own plant palaces; inspired by our gardens, London’s public parks and the library’s brilliant Unearthed: The Power of Gardening exhibition we will build greenhouses, pergolas and garden sheds, then fill them with paper plants to take home with you.
Family Festival: Story Explorers is a day of family-focused fun at the British Library, with creative workshops aimed at children aged 2 to 9 located around the building. RIBA Learning will be offering hands-on making alongside other partners including the Garden Museum and The Big Family Press.

The British Library
The British Library is the national library of the UK, holding over 170 million items including centuries-old books, stamps, maps and sound recordings. The new Story Explorers exhibition is designed with kids in mind; it’s a place where kids can come and discover the weird and wonderful stories behind items in the collection.
About RIBA Learning
RIBA Learning provides exciting opportunities for everyone to explore, question and celebrate architecture. As of June 2025, our London offices at 66 Portland Place closed for a three-year refurbishment. During that time RIBA Learning will continue to deliver events in collaboration with other cultural partners.
